About us
Karpet AB was founded in 2009 as a telecommunications consultancy. We at Karpet realized early on that there was an obvious gap in the mobile time tracking solutions available at the time. At that time, mobile services were based on SMS. Nothing wrong with that but the problem was that users could report time without being in the right place. For the classic punch clocks, this was not a problem as they were screwed to the entrance of the workplace. With our telecom experience, we knew there was a solution to the problem and we immediately saw the business case. So we decided to invest our own time, energy and money to create Nuba.
We immediately realized that to succeed we needed to create a solution that was easy to use. If the solution is complicated, it is easy to make mistakes and the most important thing is that the system shows real times with the right number of hours worked.
In 2012, we launched Nuba. It started as an SMS service, as not everyone had a smartphone. Pretty soon we created our first version of the app. Nowadays, positioning via SMS is no longer allowed due to the GDPR. The possibility to report time by SMS is still there but now without the possibility of position.
Staff ledger and punch clock at the touch of a button
Already in 2013, we built staff ledger functionality into Nuba. This was a natural choice, as it allows our customers to solve the requirement for a staff ledger and to include hours worked at the touch of a button. The advantage of combining time reporting with the staff ledger is that the staff ledger will be correct because the users’ incentive is to get paid for time worked, which means that our customers avoid the tax authorities’ fees during control. Our staff ledger works in all sectors. For the construction sector, it works slightly differently as the construction sector requires an electronic personnel ledger with workplace ID.

– To make Nuba as easy to use as possible. Now we’ve taken the simplicity so far that users only need to carry their phone in their pocket, because now there’s the possibility to be automatically clocked in and out when they arrive and leave their workplace.

Karpet AB has grown dynamically without external funding. Turnover is growing steadily at around 30% per year. Today, we have more than 400 companies using Nuba every day for time tracking and employee records.
